The Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Competition concluded on Monday under the 24th State Level School Sports Competition at Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Town Hall in Bastar District Headquarters. Addressing the players, trainers and dignitaries on this occasion from the seat of chief hospitality, Jagdalpur MLA Kiran Dev said that sports are an integral part of life. Positive energy is obtained through sports and physical, intellectual and mental development is promoted. Win and loss are two aspects of every competition, but the biggest achievement of the player is to display his excellent talent with sportsmanship and discipline in the competition.
While congratulating the Bastar Zone team for winning the overall championship, he wished them the best performance in the National Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Competition at the national level. He also praised the performance of all the players participating in the state-level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Competition and encouraged them to perform well in the upcoming competitions.
Kiran Dev said that there is no dearth of talent in the entire state including Bastar region, but there is a need to polish them and provide better opportunities. The state government is taking every possible initiative to promote sports activities along with providing education. In this direction, players are being encouraged along with expansion of sports facilities.
District Education Officer Baliram Baghel said in his welcome address that more than 250 players, students, sports officers and trainers from 05 zones of the state, Durg, Raipur, Bilaspur, Surguja and Bastar, participated in the Subroto Cup Football Competition. In which players of 15 and 17 years of age are included in the boys category and 17 years of age in the girls category. In this 24th state level school sports competition's Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Competition, Bastar Zone secured first place and Durg Zone secured second place in both the boys and girls category of 17 years age group. At the same time, Bastar Zone secured first place and Surguja Zone secured second place in the 15 years age group boys category. During this, the players of the winning and runner-up teams along with the players who performed excellently were rewarded and encouraged. On this occasion, public representatives of the area, officers and employees of the Education Department and Sports and Youth Welfare Department and a large number of sports loving dignitaries were present.
