UPI Transaction Alert: HDFC Bank has made a big announcement that SMS alerts will no longer be sent on small amount UPI transactions, the bank will now stop SMS service on small amount transactions, but will continue to send SMS alerts related to all other transactions.
The bank noted that alerts for low-value transactions were unnecessary, especially when UPI payment apps also send notifications. This is why it has announced the discontinuation of SMS service on low-cost transactions.
HDFC Bank has said in its notification that it will stop SMS alerts for UPI transactions of less than Rs 100 from June 25. This means that customers can only be charged for transactions above this amount or Rs 500 via UPI. A text message will be received on receiving more than this amount.
Banks are spending more than Rs 40 crore on messages every day. HDFC Bank advises customers to keep their primary email address updated to receive information about all transactions.
