Mumbai: After the state government increased the price of VIP numbers for vehicles from August 30, the number of people buying preferred numbers has reduced. On the other hand, 5818 VIP vehicle numbers were sold in four RTOs of Mumbai after August. Out of which an income of Rs 10 crore has been received.
Every driver wants to get attractive numbers for their new vehicles. Hence VIP numbers are purchased after the announcement of vehicle number limit. However, from August 30, the state government announced an increase in the price of VIP vehicle numbers. According to this, the price of number 0001 has been increased to Rs 5 lakh for four-wheelers and Rs 1 lakh for two-wheelers. Therefore, there has been a decline in purchases of preferred numbers this year as compared to the same period last year from September 1 to October 31. However, the income of four RTOs of Mumbai has increased.
From September 1 to October 31, 2023, 6285 VIP numbers were sold from four RTOs in Mumbai. This year, 5818 numbers have been purchased in the same period. However, last year it had earned Rs 6.71 crore. Whereas this year RTO has earned an income of Rs 10 lakh.
In Mumbai, Pune and other big cities where demand is high, the price of 0001 number for four wheelers ranges from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh. Whereas there are different rates for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and other categories of vehicles. For four wheelers, the price of 16 VIP numbers is Rs 1 lakh, for 49 numbers it is Rs 50 thousand to Rs 70 thousand and for the remaining 189 VIP numbers it is Rs 25 thousand.
