David Malan's Retirement: England's legendary batsman David Malan has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 37. Malan last played for England in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Malan's cricket journey

David Malan has played 22 Tests, 30 ODIs and 62 T20Is for England. He is one of the few England batsmen to have scored a century in all three formats. Although Malan started his career with a brilliant innings of 78 runs in his T20I debut match against South Africa in 2017, the real face of his career came after 2019 in the T20 format.

After reaching the top spot in the ICC T20I batting rankings in 2020, Malan also played a vital role in winning the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022. However, the cricketer got injured while playing against Sri Lanka and could not participate in the knockout stage.

Malan scored five centuries in 15 innings in the ODI format. Malan participated in two consecutive Test series against Australia in 2017-18 and 2021-22, but his performance continued to decline.

Malan has also played in the IPL. David Malan was made a part of the team by Punjab Kings in 2021 for Rs 1.5 crore. However, he got a chance to play in only one match. He has 26 runs in IPL.
