News India Live, Digital Desk: On the day of Diwali, i.e. this morning, when people opened their eyes in most of the cities of Uttar Pradesh, instead of the clear blue sky, they saw a thick sheet of smog. This is not fog, but dissolved pollution in the air i.e. ‘smog’. Even before the smoke from firecrackers spreads, the air in many cities of the state has reached ‘poor’ category, making it difficult to even breathe.

From Lucknow to Noida, the air got bad

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of almost all the big cities of the state, including the capital Lucknow, was recorded in the ‘poor’ category beyond 200. The situation is even worse in NCR areas like Noida and Ghaziabad. Just a day before Diwali, the average AQI of Lucknow was around 240, which is harmful for health. It is believed that after the firecrackers on Diwali night, this level may reach ‘very bad’ or even ‘severe’ category.

The weather also changed, the cold became less.

On one hand pollution has increased, on the other hand the weather has also changed its mood. The coldness that was being felt in the morning and evening for the last few days has reduced a bit on Diwali. According to the Meteorological Department, there has been a slight increase in the minimum temperature, due to which the effect of pink cold has reduced.

Today the weather will remain completely dry across the state, which means there is no possibility of rain. The wind speed is also very slow, which is not good news in terms of pollution. Due to slow wind, smoke and dust particles will remain deposited low in the atmosphere, due to which the smog situation can become even more serious.

Meteorologists have warned that pollution may be at its peak the next morning of Diwali. In such a situation, people, especially children, elderly and patients with respiratory diseases, have been advised to take special precautions.
