The aim of Foreign Minister Jaishankar's visit to Maldives is to strengthen bilateral relations

New Delhi, Male: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has left for a two-day visit to Maldives from today. Following India's “Neighbor First” policy, he wants to strengthen bilateral relations, following which Jaishankar has visited Maldives for two days from 9 to 11.

During the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed government of India, the way Maldives President Dr. Mohammad Muizzu was welcomed and given importance on his visit to India, changed Muizzu's anti-India attitude. In fact, after his swearing-in ceremony, Muizzu went to China where he was not honored. In fact, China has not liked Muizzu's behavior towards the head of a continental country. India wants to take advantage of this. The largest number of tourists from India also go there and their income is the most important contributor to the economy of Maldives. On the other hand, Maldives also looks at the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the intelligence of Foreign Minister Jaishankar with great respect.

Jaishankar's meeting with Maldives Foreign Minister Musa Zameer also discussed strengthening bilateral relations and increasing the scope of the credit facility provided by the Assim Bank of India. It also created a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation between the two countries in key areas. It was decided to develop trade and commerce between the two countries in traditional ways.
