The administration swung into action after DVC released one lakh cusecs of water

Hooghly, 03 August (HS). Due to the release of one lakh cusecs of water by DVC amid continuous rains in the state, the danger of flood has increased in the low lying and riverine areas of the state. In view of this, on Saturday, state minister Becharam Manna, Arambagh MP Mitali Bag, Tarakeshwar MLA Ramendu Singh Rai, Hooghly District Council Chairman Ranjan Dhara, Hooghly District Collector Mukta Arya and district administration officials visited the Khanakul area.

During this, Minister Becharam Manna expressed apprehension that due to water being released by DVC amid continuous rains, flood situation may arise in the area. Today's tour has been done to deal with that situation. Children, pregnant women and elderly people of the area are being identified. Relief camps are being cleaned so that if the situation worsens, no one faces any kind of inconvenience. The minister appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration if the situation worsens.
