Mirzapur, 12 November (HS). Khaira Chowki Police on Tuesday arrested an accused from near the temple located in Baghaan on the charge of demanding extortion of Rs 1 lakh from a gold businessman and threatening him. Ten thousand rupees of extortion money were recovered from him.
Ritikesh Soni, son of Premprakash Seth, resident of Hansipur of Kachwan police station area, had given a written complaint at Kachwan police station that he has a gold and silver shop in Hansipur and Sikhad. A criminal named Ganesh Pratap Singh demands extortion money by threatening to kill him. I gave him something thrice but he again demanded Rs 1 lakh. Taking the incident seriously, the in-charge Inspector Kachwan police team under the leadership of Area Officer Sadar, based on the information, arrested the accused Ganesh Pratap Singh son of Parasnath Singh from near the temple located in Baghaan village. Ten thousand rupees, which were extorted from the victim, were recovered from him. The police took legal action and sent the accused to jail.
