Jaipur/Dausa, July 9 (HS). In the case of cheating an old man of Baijupada police station in Dausa district of Rs 3 lakh 58 thousand by making a false promise of buying old coins for crores, the team of Cyber Crime Police Station has arrested the accused Jahid Mev (24) resident of Golki police station Sikri district Deeg. The accused has been taken on police remand and is being questioned.
Superintendent of Police Ranjita Sharma said that the complainant Ramesh Chand Sharma (61), a resident of village Nangal Lotwara, police station Baijupada, had lodged a case that on October 8, 2023, a message came on his WhatsApp number in the name of Indian Army Old Coin Company that we deal in old coins.
On this, he sent the photos of old coins he had with him, which he said were worth Rs 1 crore 77 lakh. After this, he contacted through WhatsApp and calls from different mobile numbers and got a total of Rs 3,57,540 transferred to his account on the pretext of registration fees, income tax and police seizing the vehicle. Police registered a case and formed a police station and on technical grounds the accused Zahid Mev was detained and arrested from Nagar police station area of Deeg district. He was produced in the court on Tuesday and police remand was obtained.
Police investigation has revealed that fraudsters give ads on Facebook and Whatsapp to buy old coins. Those who have old coins, they themselves contact them. They lure people by telling them that the value of old coins is in crores. The person who is trapped in the trap is told to parcel the old coins or the money in exchange through a car. After this, they commit fraud by making excuses like GST, RTO tax, income tax, car breakdown, police arrest and others.
