Clouds of crisis are looming over the government of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay. On Saturday, DMK, AIADMK and BJP together met Governor Vishwanath Arlekar and made serious allegations. Opposition parties claim that the Vijay government is indulging in horse trading of MLAs and the interference of unauthorized people in government work has increased.
Interference of outsiders in the cabinet?
The opposition’s main allegation is that private individuals like John and Vishnu Reddy are attending cabinet meetings and giving instructions to government officials without holding any official position. Calling it a violation of constitutional protocol, opposition leaders have demanded an explanation from the Governor and action under Article 167.
TVK’s counterattack
Thalapathy Vijay’s party TVK has defended itself on these sharp attacks of the opposition. The party says that all the allegations made are baseless. TVK has clarified that John and Vishnu Reddy have been appointed ‘Special Advisors’ to the Chief Minister, hence they are part of the government machinery and it is completely legitimate for them to attend the meetings.
