Once again a big and interesting change is being seen in the politics of Tamil Nadu. The state’s popular Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Thalapathy Vijay is preparing to bring a wonderful and unique gift for school children. According to reports, the TVK government is now working on a plan to serve special chicken biryani once a week to children studying in government schools. This proposal is undergoing rapid review within the state and is expected to be implemented soon, due to which a lot of enthusiasm is being seen among the students and parents.

Education Minister Rajmohan put forward the proposal in front of CM Vijay

According to a report in India Today, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Rajmohan has presented this special proposal to Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay. Under this scheme, a plan is being prepared to make major changes in the existing school nutrition scheme of the state. If Chief Minister Vijay gives the green signal to this proposal, Tamil Nadu will become the first state in the country where students of government schools will get a chance to enjoy the weekly chicken biryani along with the mid-day meal. At present the government is reviewing how and with what strength this scheme can be implemented financially.

Vijay will carry forward the tradition of historical nutrition schemes

Speaking in favor of his proposal, School Education Minister Rajmohan cited the rich political and social history of Tamil Nadu. He reminded how former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj laid the foundation of the historic mid-day meal scheme, after which Kalaignar Karunanidhi added nutritious eggs, M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) gave it the form of ‘Nutritious Meal Programme’ and former Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha made it mandatory to distribute eggs throughout the week. The Education Minister says that taking this great tradition forward, he has a strong desire that during the tenure of the TVK government, delicious chicken biryani should be served to the children of government schools at least once a week.

There will be a big change in the breakfast menu also

Not just lunch, the Tamil Nadu government is also planning to completely upgrade the breakfast menu under the ‘Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme’. At present a budget of about Rs 15 per student is fixed, under which breakfast is given to the children. The Education Minister has indicated that options like wheat and rava upma can be removed from the menu and more tasty, healthy and modern nutritious dishes can be included for children. It is noteworthy that the primary schools of Tamil Nadu already have a wonderful tradition of providing free nutritious food both in the morning breakfast and lunch.

Tamil Nadu has always been a leader in nutrition

The history of the introduction of mid-day meal or nutrition scheme for school going children across the country is linked to Tamil Nadu. In the 1950s K. This initiative started under the leadership of Kamaraj had shown a new path for the rest of the states of the country. With time, every successive government made new experiments in these schemes to increase the attendance of children in schools and eliminate the problem of malnutrition. Now if Thalapathy Vijay gives the final nod to this ambitious chicken biryani and breakfast upgrade proposal, it will prove to be another historic milestone towards the welfare of children.
