TET 2022 candidates with alternative degrees allowed to participate in recruitment process: Calcutta HC | News India

Kolkata, September 13 (HS). In an important decision on Friday, the Calcutta High Court has allowed the 2022 TET candidates to participate in the recruitment process on the basis of alternative training degree. Justice Amrita Sinha said that the Board of Primary Education will have to issue a new panel for the candidates holding alternative training degree so that they can participate in the recruitment process.

This decision has come in the case of Anikul Islam and some other candidates who had two types of training degrees. Earlier they had applied by showing B.Ed degree, but after the order of the Supreme Court this degree became invalid. After this, these candidates had applied to join the recruitment process on the basis of D.El.Ed degree, which has now been approved by the High Court.

In the 2022 TET exam, many candidates had mentioned B.Ed in their application, which created complications. The Supreme Court had ruled in 2023 that B.Ed holders cannot participate in the primary school recruitment process. As a result, candidates who mentioned B.Ed in the 2022 TET exam were excluded from the recruitment process.

However, the Supreme Court had also said in its decision that if the candidates have received D.El.Ed training, they can participate in the recruitment process even if they have written B.Ed in their application. After this, many candidates appealed against the Board of Primary Education in the High Court, in which the court ruled in their favor.

The Calcutta High Court has now directed the Board of Primary Education to recognise the alternative training degree and issue a fresh panel so that these candidates can get a chance to participate in the recruitment process.
