Teenage tennis star Linda Noskova won her first WTA Tour title in Monterrey on Saturday. Linda defeated Lulu Sun 7-6 (6), 6-4 in the final of the Monterrey Open, a win that will give her a lot of confidence as she prepares for the US Open. The 19-year-old Czech player is ranked 35th in the world.
Linda lost to Lulu in the first round in Cincinnati two weeks ago. Noskova will now face world number 31 Yulia Putintseva in the first round of the US Open on Tuesday. In the Monterey Open final, Linda broke Sun's serve early, but the New Zealand player came back to level the match and took the first set to a tiebreaker. Linda saved two set points before taking the set from Sun after an hour of play. After winning the title, Noskova said that I did not come to the game in a good mood but this changed a lot, it was a great tournament for me.
