Jessica Pegula won the Canadian Open tennis tournament title for the second consecutive year by defeating Amanda Anisimova in an all-American final, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 in three sets. She became the first player since 2000 to win two consecutive titles.
Martina Hingis last won two consecutive titles in 1999-2000. Pegula, seeded sixth in women's singles, won her sixth career title and second tournament this year after winning the Berlin Open in June. Pegula, who won the first set easily, had to struggle in the second set. The final went to the deciding set but Pegula kept constant pressure on Amanda and won the final in 87 minutes.
