Magdalena Freche won her first WTA tennis title at the Guadalajara Open by defeating qualifier Olivia Gadecki 7-6 (5), 6-4.
Frech became the fourth Polish player to win the singles title in the current century. Previous players include Magda Linette, Agnieszka Radwanska and current No. 1 tennis player Iga Swiatek. Frech played the first singles final of her career in Prague last July but Guadalajara (Mexico Open) is her first title. Gadecki reached Mexico after defeating two top-100 players. She had four wins last week, including a second-round win over world No. 11 Danielle Collins. Australia's Gadecki, 22, is currently No. 152 in the world. She missed out on becoming the first qualifier to win a WTA 500-level singles title since 2021. Ludmila Samsonova won in Berlin.
