Team Europe won the Laver Cup with the help of Spanish star tennis player Carlos Alcaraz. Team Europe defeated Team World with a score of 13-11. 21-year-old Alcaraz defeated Taylor Fitz 6-2, 7-5 in the last match late Sunday night.
Team Europe has won the Laver Cup for the fifth time. Earlier, Europe achieved the feat of becoming champion three years ago in 2021. Captain Borg ended his tenure with a 5-2 record against his rival, close friend and Team World captain John McEnroe.
Team Europe fell behind 4-8 on the third and final day of the tournament. The pair of Alcaraz and Casper Ruud won the doubles match against Ben Shelton and Francis Tiafoe 6-2, 7-5 to level the score at 7-8. Dimitrov lost to Ben Shelton 7-6, 5-7, 7-10 in the singles match and Team World went ahead 11-7. Zverev and Alcaraz won their respective singles matches to earn six points. In the decisive match, Zverev defeated Tiafone 6-7, 7-5, 10-5 and Alcaraz defeated Fitz 6-2, 7-5 to give the team a 13-11 win.
