Ten years rigorous imprisonment to one in hashish smuggling case


East Champaran, 06 May (H.I.S.). 12th Additional District and Sessions Judge cum Special Judge of NDPS Act Court No. 1, Noor Sultana, found an accused guilty in the hashish smuggling case and sentenced him to ten years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2 lakh. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional punishment of two months.

The punishment was given to Govind Sahni, resident of Harinagar Siswani Tola of West Champaran Ramnagar police station. In this case, Ramnarayan Ram, the then SI of Palanwa Bhelahi OP, had named Govind Sahni while registering Bhelahi OP police station case number 17/2024, in which he had said that on April 3, 2016, at around 4.30 pm, police force patrolling near Bhelahi OP check post. Was applying. At the same time, to avoid checking, a person was coming from Nepal by following the footpath. On suspicion the person was stopped and searched. During the search, 1.600 grams of hashish kept in three pockets was recovered from him.

The court framed charges against the accused and heard the case on January 3, 2017. During the trial of NDPS case number 22/2016, Special Public Prosecutor Dr. Shambhu Sharan Singh presented three witnesses in the court and presented the prosecution case. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the judge found him guilty under sections 20(b)ii(c) and 23(c) of the NDPS Act and pronounced the above sentence.
