Before the Jharkhand assembly elections, cracks have started appearing in the Bharat alliance. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Communist Party of India (CPI) have expressed displeasure over the seat sharing with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress.

The lack of consensus on seat sharing among the main constituent parties of the alliance has created instability at the alliance as well as at the state level, raising questions on the future of the alliance. Banen forces have given JMM only 24 hours time and if no agreement is reached during this period, they have decided on how many seats they will field their candidates in the state. RJD has expressed readiness to contest elections alone on 20-21 seats and has given an ultimatum to declare the list of candidates after 24 hours. The angry CPI will also announce the names of its candidates from 15 assembly seats if no decision is taken within 24 hours. It is clear from the stance of both the parties that the India alliance in Jharkhand is on the verge of breaking. If these two parties field separate candidates, the electoral prospects of the alliance could be seriously damaged.
