New Delhi: The agitating farmers, who were on strike at the Shambhu border of Punjab and Haryana since February, have now resumed their agitation and extended their march towards Delhi. However, on Friday they were stopped at the Shambhu border, just as they were stopped by firing tear gas shells in February. Tear gas shells were fired on the advancing farmers. As a result, many farmers were injured and a scene like a battlefield was seen.
In February this year, when thousands of farmers were marching towards Delhi with their demands including a law on support price, they were stopped by a fort at the Shambhu border in Haryana, following which the farmers sat on strike. Now on Friday again these farmers were moving towards Delhi. However, Haryana Police stopped them from going further and fired tear gas and water cannons, saying that restrictions were in force on the Shambhu border. However, the farmers moved ahead. During this time many shells were fired at him.
United Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have prepared the volume. When the farmers involved moved forward, shells were fired at them. Farmer leader Sarvan Singh Pandher said that till evening about eight farmers were injured. The condition of two of them is critical. There are 101 farmers who are ready to sacrifice their lives to serve the country. We have now taken back this quantity, hurting the farmers. We request the government to discuss this issue with us. But instead of discussing, we are being treated as if we are enemies of some other country. Punjabis and farmers have made the maximum sacrifice for this country. Now we will march towards Delhi again on Sunday. We will wait for the proposal for talks from the government till Saturday. On the other hand, farmers started moving towards Delhi soon after the Haryana government suspended mobile internet and SMS services in 11 villages of Ambala district. This restriction will remain in force till 9th and Shambhu border has been fortified. Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said at an event in Mumbai that Agriculture Minister, I want to request you to please tell me what was promised to the farmers? Why were these promises not fulfilled? There was agitation last year also, this year also farmers are agitating. Citing this statement of Dhankhar, Congress has now said that these questions of the Vice President have given a booster dose to the farmers.
