New Delhi, July 4 (HS). The Indian cricket team arrived in Delhi on Thursday morning after winning the T20 World Cup title in Barbados. Holding placards congratulating their favorite players and waving national flags, hundreds of fans gathered outside the Indira Gandhi International Airport to welcome the victorious players.
Meanwhile, BCCI wrote on the post, “This is home #TeamIndia.”
The team is expected to leave for Mumbai on Thursday evening. After this, the team will take part in an open bus road show, followed by a felicitation ceremony at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. The Indian team is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 11 am today.
Earlier, World Cup-winning skipper Rohit Sharma gave a special message to Indian fans, inviting the ecstatic supporters to join the victory parade at Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday to celebrate the Men in Blue's ICC T20 World Cup triumph. The Men in Blue defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final to win their second ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
The Rohit-led team will take an open-roof bus ride down Mumbai's Marine Drive and head to the iconic Wankhede Stadium from 5:00 PM to celebrate.
