India can be out even after defeating New Zealand 1-0 or 2-1
Even after winning the series against New Zealand, Team India may be out of the race for the WTC final. This is possible only if India wins the series against New Zealand by 1-0 or 2-1, because last time India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 2-1. If this happens this time too, then Team India will have to depend on the result of the Sri Lanka vs South Africa series. If Australia defeats India and India also loses the series against New Zealand, then Sri Lanka will defeat South Africa and make it to the finals.
