Varanasi, 23 September (HS). Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel said that all possible efforts should be made to end malnutrition. Its root cause, the marriage of girls at a young age, must also be stopped. The Governor was addressing the Kashi CSR Conclave organized in the Commissioner's Auditorium on Monday evening. In the program, MoUs were transferred for works worth more than 80 crores under CSR of various companies and various companies were thanked for CSR works worth more than 125 crores.
Speaking as the chief guest at the programme, the Governor said that the stronger our foundation is, the stronger India will be and the country will achieve the goals of a developed India. He said that technology should be used for good purposes. The presence of a teacher should be ensured during the operation of a smart class. He stressed on the need for a child psychologist for young children and asked to make it compulsory. He said that the entire environment of the house affects the baby growing in the mother's womb, so there should be a good environment and food arrangement during that time. He took the parents of girls to task for not getting the benefit of the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana and inspired them to focus on their daughters. He asked everyone to take a pledge not to marry girls before the age of 20. Expressing concern over the discrimination between boys and girls in society, he asked them to come out of it.
Speaking on the National Education Policy, the Governor asked for continuous efforts from the bottom up to achieve the target of admission of 50 percent children in higher education by 2030. He asked for continuous efforts for improvement in the eight aspiring districts of the state. In the program, after giving kits to five Anganwadis, the Governor awarded certificates to 9 Anganwadi workers and supervisors who did excellent work against malnutrition. The Governor also distributed laptops among five beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana and also gave ISO certificates to Kasturba Gandhi schools and Government Children's Home in the program. The Governor, in collaboration with the Health Department, launched the cervical and breast cancer screening program for awareness among women and girls in urban areas under Project Isha organized in collaboration with Madan Mohan Malviya Cancer Institute. The Governor flagged off the Bridhmitra van subsidized by SBI in the program itself.
In the program, District Panchayat President Poonam Maurya said that Anganwadi workers are constantly working for the development of children and girls and to free them from malnutrition. She also praised their continuous efforts to improve the health of pregnant women.
Mayor Ashok Tiwari said that development projects worth about 65000 crores are being carried out in Kashi. District Magistrate S Rajlingam thanked the Governor for his constant attention to Varanasi and his efforts towards education, health and malnutrition eradication. He said that this helps a lot in increasing the basic skills of children. At present, the level of acute malnutrition in the district, which was about 7 percent, has come down to about 02 percent.
Chief Development Officer Himanshu Nagpal thanked the Governor for his continuous efforts. A presentation was also given to the chief guest on the MoU transfer and the works done earlier under CSR.
MLA from City South Dr Neelkanth Tiwari, Member Legislative Council Hansraj Vishwakarma, Dharmendra Singh, ONGC, Power Grid, REC, Hans Foundation, GAIL India, NCL and CWC, Reliance Foundation, Vedanta Foundation, Feeding India, HDFC Bank, ICICI representatives and officers were also present in the program.
