Teachers' Day: PM Modi's message as he pays tribute to former President Radhakrishnan | News India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while wishing teachers on the occasion of Teachers' Day said that our teachers are making an invaluable contribution in nation building by enriching the lives of future generations with their knowledge.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted teachers on Teachers' Day and paid tribute to former President S. Radhakrishnan. In a post on social media platform 'X', PM Modi said, “Happy Teachers' Day. It is an occasion to express gratitude to all the teachers who shape young minds. Tributes to Dr. Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary… The Prime Minister further said that the role of teachers is very important in shaping the lives of students by imparting knowledge and guidance and they are making an invaluable contribution to nation building.

Radhakrishnan was awarded the 'Bharat Ratna' in 1954

Born on 5 September 1888 in Tamil Nadu, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is known as a communicator of Indian culture, renowned educationist and great philosopher. In his honor, his birth anniversary is celebrated as 'Teacher's Day'. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President and second President of India. He was a great philosopher and scholar. He was awarded India's highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna' in 1954. In 1963, he was awarded honorary membership of the British Royal Order of Merit.
