Jaipur, September 5 (HS). Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that teachers are nation builders, they are building the building of capable citizens by laying a strong foundation of character-building in the new generation. It is through their education and knowledge that a person becomes thoughtful and enriched with compassion and sympathy and creates a progressive and inclusive society.

Sharma was addressing the state level Teachers' Honor Ceremony organized at Birla Auditorium on Thursday as the chief guest. He said that in our Indian tradition, the place of Guru has been supreme. Teachers improve the quality of education with commitment and hard work and enrich the lives of students with dedication and devotion. Therefore, a school is not made only by good buildings, expensive equipment or facilities but by the invaluable knowledge of teachers. The Chief Minister said that Teachers' Day is celebrated on the occasion of the birthday of former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. This day is a symbol of respect for his extraordinary personality and his invaluable contribution to education. He said that in order to revive the rich tradition of Guru-Shishya relationship, the state government is going to start the tradition of honoring the Vice Chancellors of the University with the title of Kulguru.

In the ceremony, Chief Minister Sharma became emotional on seeing his teacher Shankarlal Sharma. He came down from the stage, touched the Guru's feet, made him sit near him and felicitated him by presenting a memento. The Chief Minister said that teachers work tirelessly for the success of their students. They are like a potter who kneads the clay with his experience and makes a beautiful statue. There is no price for their dedication. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also shared his childhood education experience from the stage.

Sharma said that the state government is continuously working on ambitious schemes and programmes to strengthen the educational infrastructure from village to city. The state government has made a provision of Rs 350 crore for the construction of classrooms, labs, libraries, toilets in government schools and Rs 100 crore for the repair of buildings of 750 schools. Also, we are benefiting 1 lakh students through business innovation program in schools and colleges. In the next two years, the state government will also open 20 ITI and 10 polytechnic colleges.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to innovations in the field of education along with traditional teaching methods. In this sequence, work is being done to benefit lakhs of students in schools and colleges through State Skill Policy, Atal Entrepreneurship Program, Atal Innovation Studio and Accelerator, Learn, Earn and Progress (LEAP) Program, Digital Praveshotsav etc. He said that the School Education Department has also conducted a health check-up survey of 80 lakh students of 70 thousand schools. The students identified in this will be able to get treatment facilities under the schemes of the Health Department.

Sharma said that the teachers of the state are more talented than those of other states. They have the capability to further upgrade the education system of the state. He said that due to the contribution of teachers, the state will soon become the leader in the field of education. The Chief Minister assured that wherever there is a need, schools will be upgraded and new subjects will also be started.

Education Minister Madan Dilawar said that teachers are doing excellent work across the state. This academic year, students have also got good exam results. Under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, the education department alone has achieved the target of 2.5 crore trees in the state in order to plant seven crore trees. He said that on July 5, three crore 58 lakh books have been given to students across the state. In the ceremony, the Chief Minister distributed free tablets to 11 meritorious students and also released the Shikshak Samman booklet and Shivira. Also, tablets were distributed to 55 thousand 800 students across the state. On this occasion, a short film related to school health checkup was also screened by the education department.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa, MP Manju Sharma, Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma, Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation Mayor Saumya Gurjar, Education Secretary Krishna Kunal and Director Secondary Education Ashish Modi along with public representatives, officers and a large number of teachers were present in the program. Teachers working in all the districts of the state also joined the function through video conference.
