Prayagraj, 09 November (HS). Teacher Poonam Gupta, famously known as the Golden Girl of Prayagraj, has again brought glory to the department and the state by winning three gold medals in the National Veterans Athletics Competition 2024 on behalf of Veterans Athletics India.
Giving information, Poonam said that the said competition was organized on 8-9 November in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. In which Poonam Gupta, a teacher working in the Basic Education Department, was selected for Uttar Pradesh. Poonam won gold medal in 100m race (13.01) and gold medal in 110m handle (17.40). Poonam participated in discus throw for the first time and won the gold medal by throwing the distance (19.07).
Poonam told that she is suffering from the painful disease of calcaneal spur. In which there is unbearable pain in the heel due to pressure caused by keeping the feet on the ground. Despite that, at the last moment he decided to participate in the competition and his decision proved fruitful. He won gold medals in all three of his events. She will now focus fully on recovering from her illness and will participate in the 2025 South Asia Master Athletics Championship in Karnataka and Delhi.
