Tata formed a high committee for quick decision

Tata Trusts has formed an Executive Committee (EC). It comprises chairman Ratan Tata, vice chairmen Venu Srinivasan and Vijay Singh, and trustee Mehli Mistry.

Given that all the trusts have more than 18 trustees, the move has been taken to expedite decision making on a daily basis without going to the full board for approval and ratification. Tata Trusts are controlling shareholders of Tata Sons. Tata Sons is the holding company of the Tata Group.

Apart from this, Aparna Uppaluri has resigned from the post of COO of Tata Trust citing personal reasons. Uppaluri was appointed in April 2003. Who was the first person to hold this role in Tata Trust. Siddharth Sharma, who was appointed CEO of Tata Trust in April 2003, remains in his post. It is believed that Tata Trust is looking for Uppaluri's successor. About 66 percent of the equity capital of Tata Sons is held by philanthropic trusts established by members of the Tata family. The largest trusts among these are Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust. Tata Trust currently has more than 18 trustees in various trusts. Whose chairman is 87-year-old Ratan Tata. He is also the honorary chairman of Tata Sons. Uppaluri is believed to have been working closely with the management to restructure the trust, India's oldest charitable institution. Officials associated with the trust said that Tata Trusts is evolving from a grant-giving organisation to one that directly implements projects on the ground by tying up with large institutions through public-private partnerships.

Tata Trusts comprises of two major trusts, one is Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Associate Trust and the other is Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Associate Trust. Other important trusts include Tata Education and Development Trust, Navajbai Ratan Tata Trust, Bai Hirabai J.N. It includes Tata Navsari Charitable Institution and Public Service Trust.

Tata Trusts is the controlling shareholder of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group.

Ratan Tata is also the Chairman of the Tata Trusts and Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons.
