– Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission and Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission with the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam
Guwahati, 30 March (Hindustan Reporter). To strengthen the democratic system of the country by exercising the republican right to vote, today the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam has taken steps to effectively spread awareness about voting and participation in the election process i.e. SVEEP system in Assam. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission and Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission with Chief Electoral Officer of Assam Anurag Goyal in the auditorium.
The event, organized in the presence of Joint Election Officers of Assam, Pankaj Chakraborty and Mili Baruva, urged the officials of Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission and Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission to work more actively to ensure turnout of all voters in Assam. . Out of total 2,43,01,960 voters in Assam, 39 lakh families are from rural areas, hence Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission will take several steps to create awareness among these voters to exercise their right to vote.
Through 'Help Deck' in Village Panchayat Offices, Cooperative Society Offices etc., members of Self Help Groups in the name of 'Sarthi Baideo' will assist in voter awareness and exercise of voting rights. By preparing a list of elderly voters aged 85 years and above as well as disabled voters in development blocks/villages, the Sarathi Baidas will be able to provide special voting facilities by submitting the list at the administrative level.
Similarly, Saradhi Baideo of Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission is conducting district elections by preparing electoral rolls of voters aged 85 years and above and persons with disabilities besides distributing guidelines, handbooks, leaflets etc. among the voters to ensure 100% voting. Will assist the officer. Besides this, Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission and Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission will organize rallies for women voters to attract voters and ensure turnout.
Today, at the MoU signing ceremony, Project Managers of Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission Kishlay Das, Devashish Kumar Baruwa and Rekib Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission Dr. Himadri Koch and State Project Manager Rosie K Baruwa and others were present.
