Tamil Nadu will implement Bihar's disaster management policies in its state

Patna, May 25 (HS). Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar State Disaster Management Authority is touching new heights in the field of disaster management. To know the work being done by the authority and to develop mutual understanding, a high-level delegation led by Tamil Nadu State Additional Chief Secretary S.K. Prabhakar visited the authority. He said that Tamil Nadu will implement the best disaster management policies here.

The representatives of Tamil Nadu State expressed their happiness after watching the Authority's film providing information about Nitish Pendant manufactured by the Authority, Chief Minister School Safety Program operated with BSDRN network, Safe Swimming Program, Community Volunteer Training Program, Mason Training Program for earthquake resistant house construction, Disabled Disaster Safety Program, Hospital Fire Safety Program, Akira Miyawaki Technique under Global Warming and Environmental Protection Program, public awareness programs through AR/VR technology.

S.K. Prabhakar said that both Bihar and Tamil Nadu are disaster prone states. Coming to Bihar was my priority and I have come to the right place. The work being done for disaster management in Bihar has impressed me a lot. The knowledge gained from the programs here will play an important role in dealing with floods and other disasters in Tamil Nadu. He praised the flood management in Bihar and said that he has learned a lot. On this occasion, Dr. N. Shravan Kumar, Secretary, Food and Consumer Protection Department, gave information about the disaster management policies of Bihar and the continuous efforts being made for pre-preparedness and administrative commitment. Member P.N. Rai gave information about the policies and financial arrangements of the Authority. Also, while giving information about flood disaster management, he said that the Chief Minister himself takes stock twice a year. He gave information about various programs and policies of the Authority related to technology intervention and community based awareness.

On this occasion, Authority's Vice President Dr. Udaykant, Member P.N. Rai, Member Kaushal Kishore Mishra along with Dr. N. Shravan Kumar, Secretary, Food and Consumer Protection Department, Dr. C.N. Prabhu, Director, Bihar Meteorological Service Center, and Authority officials were present. Member Kaushal Kishore Mishra welcomed the guests on behalf of the Authority. He also presented mementos to the guests.

On this occasion, Vice President Dr. Udaykant, while giving information about the work being done in collaboration with various stakeholders for disaster management, told about the work being done with the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru on flood management. He also talked about increasing mutual cooperation by expanding the mutual understanding related to disaster management and reduction in both the states with mutual cooperation.

Vaidyanathan Retired Superintending Engineer & Agricultural Engineering Department, Watershed Management Expert cum Disaster Risk Reduction, Chennai attended the meeting. Dr. B.K.
