Tamil Nadu: Veerappan's daughter Vidya Rani will contest elections from Krishnagiri, named Tamilar Katchi as candidate

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), March 23 (HS). Just a few days after leaving the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), sandalwood smuggler Veerappan's daughter Vidya Rani has joined the Tamil Nadu Katchi Party. Naam Tamilar Katchi – “NTK” has today announced Vidya Rani as its candidate from Krishnagiri seat in the Lok Sabha elections on 23 March. She will contest the election on the Mike election symbol allotted to the party.

Vidya, a lawyer by profession, joined politics to overcome the negative image associated with her family due to her father Veerappan. She joined BJP in 2020 and was appointed as the state vice president of OBC Morcha cell. However, she left the party in February this year and joined Nam Tamilar Katchi “NTK” in the presence of party chief Seeman.

Last Saturday, in the list of 40 candidates released by NTK, Tamil Nadu coordinator Seeman had announced for all 40 Lok Sabha constituencies of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the April 19 parliamentary elections. According to the NTK party president, R Gemini will be fielded from Vilavancode assembly constituency, where by-elections are being held along with the parliamentary elections.
