Taking too much Vitamin D can cause these side effects, overdose is also dangerous for health!

Vitamins are considered essential for health because they play an important role in maintaining body functions. Deficiency of these vitamins can have adverse effects on physical functions and overall health. However, it is important to note that excessive consumption of vitamins can also pose health risks. Recently, there was news of death of an elderly person in London due to overdose of Vitamin D. Let us know about the possible side effects of excessive consumption of Vitamin D.

Excessive intake of vitamin D can lead to the accumulation of toxins in the body, resulting in a condition called hypervitaminosis D. Health experts have warned that excess amounts of Vitamin D can cause various complications and have negative effects on the body in many ways. For children up to one year, the recommended daily dose of vitamin D is 400 international units (IU). Individuals aged one to 70 years should aim for a daily dose of 600 IU, and those over the age of 70 should maintain a daily dose of 600 IU.

Research shows that high doses of vitamin D may cause loss of appetite, nausea, and irregular bowel movements. Additionally, it can affect mental health, causing confusion and symptoms of depression. In severe cases, excessive amounts of vitamin D in the body can result in coma, which can be life-threatening. Therefore, health experts strongly advise against taking vitamin D supplements in excess of the recommended dosage.

It is essential to meet the body's vitamin D requirements through natural sources rather than relying on supplements. Including vitamin D-rich foods in the diet, such as dairy products, citrus juices, soy milk, fish, cheese and eggs can help maintain vitamin D levels without the risk of overdose.
