Take villages as aspirational villages to reduce maternal-infant mortality rate: Chief Minister

Dehradun, 02 July (HS). The Chief Minister directed to take some villages of the state as aspiring villages to get rid of malnutrition and further reduce maternal-infant mortality rate. Along with keeping the tracking system of pregnant mothers updated, he asked to ensure the availability of millets to women to overcome anemia.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department at the Secretariat. During this, he instructed the officials that for effective control of malnutrition among children, it is important for both the mother and the child to remain healthy.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to keep the tracking system of pregnant mothers updated through Anganwadi workers and ANMs in the state. To overcome anemia, availability of millets to women should be ensured. Special attention should be paid to the quality of the nutrition given to children and mothers through Anganwadi. Quality checks of the nutrition should also be done randomly.

Make schemes more practical to make girls self-reliant:

The Chief Minister asked to run various schemes being run for freedom from malnutrition in mutual coordination. The Chief Minister emphasized on making the schemes more practical for better education and self-reliance of girls in the state under the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign. Along with this, he also asked to pay special attention to the skill development of women in the direction of women empowerment.

Vice Chairman Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vishwas Dabur, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Chandresh Yadav, Director Women Empowerment and Child Development Prashant Arya were present in the meeting.
