To maintain energy during the fast, fruits, coconut water, milk, yogurt, tapioca, water chestnut flour and Rajgir should be eaten. Dry nuts like almonds, walnuts and raisins give essential nutrition to the body. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout the day and drink lemonade or buttermilk.

Food, more spices and packed foods should be avoided during the fast as it can cause gas and acidity in the stomach. Do not stay empty stomach for a long time, it can cause weakness and dizziness. If someone has diabetes or any other health problem, then before keeping a fast, please consult a doctor. By adopting a balanced diet and the right routine, Navratri fast can be easily kept and there will be no harm to health.
