Raipur, 2 August (HS). Breathing is necessary for living and oxygen for breathing will always remain the need of all living beings on earth. Life-giving oxygen is obtained from trees, which means that life of humans and animals is not possible without trees and plants. Tree plantation is done on a large scale every year but it is necessary to assess how many of those plants survive. Just as parents take care of their children till they stand on their own feet, similarly, after planting the saplings, it is necessary to take good care of them for 5-6 years. Minister Tank Ram Verma said the above things in the district level Van Mahotsav program organized by the Forest Department in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Lavan of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district amidst the drizzle of Sawan.

In the Van Mahotsav program, under the campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam', Minister Tank Ram Verma along with public representatives and officials planted saplings in the school premises. Today, about 500 saplings were planted in the school premises. Addressing the program, former Assembly Speaker Gaurishankar Agarwal said that every year tree plantation is done on a large scale, this year Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for planting trees under the campaign 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam'.

Former MLA Bhatapara Shivratan Sharma, former Parliamentary Secretary Dr. Sanam Jangde also addressed the program. DFO Mayank Agarwal said that under the river bank scheme, trees have been planted in 50 hectares in the district. Under the Kisan Vriksha Mitra Yojana, trees will be planted in 2185 acres of land of 1151 farmers.
