T20 World Cup 2024 will increase the tension of captains, now not even of bowlers! ICC announces implementation of new rule

New Delhi: The headache of captains in international cricket is going to increase from T20 World Cup 2024. The ICC has announced the implementation of the stop clock rule from the World Cup in its annual board meeting. This new rule of ICC will be applicable in ODI and T20 cricket from June 2024. This rule was used on a trial basis in December 2023.

ICC has decided to implement stop clock rule from T20 World Cup 2024. This rule will currently apply to white ball cricket. According to the stop clock rule, after the end of one over, the stop clock will be used before starting the second over. Let us tell you that the captain and the bowler get 60 seconds to start the second over.

How will this rule work?

Actually, according to ICC, stop clock will be arranged in every ground. The stop clock will operate before the end of one over and the beginning of the next over. It will be the responsibility of the third umpire to start the stop clock as soon as the over is over. The clock will run from 60 to zero seconds. The bowler has to be ready to bowl the next over before the time runs out.

heavy cost of violation will have to pay

Violating the stop clock rule will prove costly for every captain. According to the rules, the fielding captain will be warned twice. However, if the mistake is repeated for the third time, a penalty of 5 runs will be imposed on the team. Actually, ICC has decided to implement this new rule to end the match on time.

This diet was used on a trial basis from December 2023 and the results have been quite good. This is the reason why ICC has decided to implement this new rule from the T20 World Cup itself.
