American teenager Coco Goff overcame a slow start and reached the women's singles quarterfinals of the Dubai tennis tournament by defeating Karolina Pliskova in three sets despite an argument with the chair umpire in the second set. Third-seeded Goff ended Pliskova's 11-match winning streak with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory. Goff will next face Russia's Anna Klinskaya, who defeated ninth-seeded Jelena Ostapenko 6-4, 7-5. World number one player Iga Swiatek of Poland reached the last eight after defeating two-time champion Elena Svitolina 6-1, 6-5. Fourth seed Elena Rybakina has also reached the quarterfinals. She defeated Magdalena Frech 7–6(5), 3–6, 6–4 after reaching a first-set tiebreaker. Swiatek will next face sixth seed Qianwen Zheng, who easily defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-3, 6-2. In the last-eight, Rybakina will face Italy's Jasmine Paolini, who recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win over eighth seed Maria Saccari. The other quarterfinal will be between Marketa Vondrousova and Sorana Christieu.
