Chittorgarh, 26 October (Hindustan Reporter). The old settlement still exists at the foothills of the historical Chittor Fort. Narrow streets and small houses close together are still the identity of Chittor. Amidst these, the sweet market built since the time of kings and emperors is felt smelling of sweets all the time. This year, the traders of Mithai Gali are busy preparing for Diwali. Marka sweets are especially in demand here, which is made from rice flour fried in ghee. At the same time, other types of sweets are also being prepared, so that this time there is hope of special customer on Diwali. The big thing is that all the shopkeepers make Mawa from milk themselves and do not get it from outside.

The information revealed that there is still an old settlement in the inner part of Chittorgarh city, which is at the foothills of the fort. Here the narrow streets and stone houses have their own identity. There is a market for sweets here for years, which was also there during the old settlement. Even today it is known by the name of Sweet Bazaar. Even on normal days, people go to the shops here to shop for pure sweets. Special splendor is seen on Diwali. If we talk about traditional sweets, they are available all the time in this market. Mainly, gram flour chakki, desi mawa barfi, gulab jamun, makhan bada, ghevar laddu and jalebi are ready all the time. The big thing is that Mawa is prepared from milk at the shops only and is not ordered from outside. In view of the festival of Diwali, there is a crowd in this market regarding sales. Traders are seen busy in preparations a week in advance. Yogesh Pandia, who lives here, told that this market dates back to the times of kings and emperors. Whenever Chittauri Eighth (Foundation Day of Chittor) was celebrated, Maharana's carriage used to leave from here. He has had his ancestral shop here for years. Many generations have been setting up shop here. Pandia said that now people rarely come to this market. Ratan Singh said that there is a demand for Markay sweets on Diwali. This sweet is made only on Diwali.

Marked sweets are taken during Mahalakshmi puja.

Information came to light that Marke's sweets are made only in Mewar for Diwali and do not spoil for a month. This sweet is used in Mahalakshmi on the day of Diwali. For this reason this sweet goes to every house on Diwali. Sweets will not spoil for a long time, hence they are also sent outside.

People do not come to the narrow market, shopkeepers are migrating

Here, the customer base in the sweets market has started decreasing. The reason behind this is that this market is densely populated and there is very little vehicular movement. This market can be reached only on a two-wheeler, there is traffic jam in this also. One has to walk half a kilometer to one kilometer carrying the weight of sweets. Due to this, people like to come to this market less. Some people have even set up shop outside the market.
