Gandhinagar News: The Government of India has called for a mass movement for cleanliness across India to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary on October 2. This year, as part of the celebration of the 10th year of the Swachh Bharat Mission, it is planned to celebrate this day as Swachh Bharat Diwas.
Under which, from today till 17 September 2024. till 31 October 2024, “Swachhata Hi Seva-2024” fortnight has been started.
Swachhata Abhiyan was carried out in theme based cleaning of public transport and highways in 8 metros and 157 municipalities of the state, a total of more than 24705 citizens participated in the cleanliness drive and contributed 31747 hours of labour in which 21 tons of garbage was collected. Out of which 18 tons of garbage was disposed of and the work of disposal of the remaining garbage is currently in progress.
A total of 1086 garbage vulnerable points (GVPs) were cleaned in the municipalities and townships of the state.
Cleanliness drive was carried out in a total of 744 main roads, 297 market areas, 994 commercial areas, 2971 residential areas of the metropolitan cities and municipalities of the state. A total of 533 black spots were cleaned in the municipalities and municipalities of the state.
A total of 230 red spots (water sprinklers) and 123 yellow spots (open urinals) were cleaned in the municipalities and municipalities of the state. Apart from this, a total of 656 community/public toilets and urinals were cleaned in the metropolitan cities and municipalities of the state. A total of more than 90 cleanliness street plays were organized in the metropolitan cities/municipalities of the state.
