NDDB Soil partners with Suzuki Motors: Suzuki Motors Corporation will acquire 26 per cent stake in National Dairy Development Board’s (NDDB) biogas plant venture Soil. This biogas plant will produce compressed biogas which can be used as fuel in vehicles. So vehicles will run on the road with less pollution. It is noteworthy that Suzuki Motors wanted to buy 49 percent stake in NDDB Soil Limited, but the Central Government has decided to allot only 26 percent shares.
Suzuki will build four biogas plants
Suzuki Motors has expressed interest in building four biogas plants. Suzuki Motors believes that CBG and CNG are best for making environment friendly vehicles. Making CBG from cow dung is beneficial. This also improves the performance of the vehicle. NDDB sources have indicated that Suzuki Motors is ready to take 26 percent stake of NDDB.
Suzuki Research and Development Center India Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Suzuki Motors, has earlier set up a plant with Banas Dairy to produce biogas from cow dung. Suzuki will hold 26 percent shares of NDDB Soil Limited while the remaining 74 percent shares will be acquired by NDDB. The price of purchasing 26 percent shares will be decided later. Suzuki will increase its stake in future.
Target to increase CBG supply
Suzuki Motors will also benefit from NDDB’s dominance in the rural world in other parts of the country, including Gujarat. With an aim to increase supply and make CBG available in areas where gas-powered vehicles are in large numbers, Maruti Suzuki also operates a biogas plant with Banas Dairy. For which adequate funding has also been made.
100 cow dung gas plants will be built in Gujarat
Apart from Banaskantha, biogas plants will also be built in Dhanera, Vadgam and Deodar, Disa and Tharad. There are plans to set up about 100 such gobar gas plants in Gujarat. After Banasderi, Panchmahal Dairy, Dudhsagar Dairy and Saber Dairy are also willing to move forward in the direction of setting up biogas plants. Oil marketing companies are also interested in setting up a plant to produce compressed biogas from cow dung gas. There is a plan to supply PNG to every house from this plant.
