New Delhi: Employees of private companies contribute to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to get pension benefits after retirement. When an employee retires, he gets the benefit of pension along with a lump sum amount from the EPF fund.
Many employees face difficulty in withdrawing money from EPF fund. Actually, this problem arises when any information in the EPF account is wrong.
In such a situation, you should also check once whether any information in your PF account is wrong. If surname, date of birth or any other information is wrong then you can correct it in online and offline mode.
The employee first submits an application to correct the details and then this application is approved by the employer. Thereafter, EPFO verifies the corrections/changes made in the official request and updates the account.
How to request
Step 1: You have to visit the official portal of EPFO and log in to your EPF account with the help of UAN and password.
Step 2: Now on the home page you have to go to Manage option and select “Edit Basic Details”.
Step 3: After this you will have to fill the correct information which is present in your Aadhar card. Let us tell you that the system will verify it with Aadhaar data.
Step 4: After filling all the information, click on “Update Details”. After this the request will go to the employer i.e. company. Once the request is approved by the company, these details will be updated after verification.
How to apply offline?
To correct the details in the EPF account, you have to fill the relevant form, get it approved by the company and send it to the EPFO office. After this EPFO will verify the official form and update the account.
