Surat, Gandhinagar and Rajkot Municipal Corporations approve Rs 255 crore fund for CM Urban Road Scheme | News India

Gujarat News: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a total of Rs 255.06 crore from the Chief Minister Urban Road Scheme for 3 municipalities of the state Surat, Rajkot and Gandhinagar under the Swanim Jayanti Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme.

The chief minister has given in-principle approval to allocate Rs 181.50 crore to Surat Municipal Corporation for various 579 works like widening of existing roads, construction of new roads, construction of footpaths and CC roads and road carpeting and re-carpeting.

Under this scheme, assistance is provided by the state government under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shahri Vikas Yojana for works including construction of new roads and repair of existing roads in the metropolitan cities of the state.

In this regard, he has approved the proposal presented before Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel by the Urban Development Department of the three municipal corporations.

Apart from Surat Municipal Corporation, the Chief Minister has sanctioned Rs 60.78 crore to Rajkot Municipal Corporation for 12 different urban road works. He has sanctioned an amount of Rs 12.84 crore for road renovation works in Gandhinagar Mahanagar Palika area.

In this Golden Jubilee Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme by the Urban Development Department of the State Government, in the last four years, Surat Municipal Corporation has received Rs 740.85 crore for 1493 works, Rajkot Municipal Corporation has received Rs 168.94 crore for 29 urban road works and Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation has received Rs 57.68 crore for 7 works, a total of 1529 urban road works have been allocated funds from the Chief Minister Urban Road Scheme component.
