New Delhi, 6 November (HS). Lakhs of transport vehicle drivers have got relief from the Supreme Court. The Constitution Bench of five judges headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has made it clear in its decision that LMV (Light Motor Vehicle) license holders can also drive transport vehicles lighter than 7500 kg. It is clear that his employment will continue.
This also means that the insurance policy taken by the LMV license holder will also cover those accidents while he is driving the transport vehicle. Currently, insurance companies were raising questions on the payment of such claims in which an accident occurred due to the driving of a transport vehicle by LMV license holders. Today's decision makes it clear that the insurance policy taken by the LMV license holder will also cover those accidents when he is driving a light transport vehicle less than 7500 kg.
