Supreme Court's official Youtube channel hacked
According to the information, the official YouTube channel of the Supreme Court has been hacked. A video advertising the cryptocurrency XRP is being shown on the channel. The XRP cryptocurrency has been developed by the US-based company Ripple Labs. The Supreme Court uses a YouTube channel to live stream the hearing of cases listed before constitutional benches and issues of public interest. Recently, the hearing of the rape and murder case of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata was live streamed on the Supreme Court's YouTube channel.
A video of the previous hearing uploaded on the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel was made private by hackers and was titled ‘Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds to SEC’s $2 Billion Fine!’ A blank video titled ‘XRP Price Prediction’ is currently live on a hacked channel.
We are not sure what exactly happened: A senior SC official
A senior Supreme Court official said, “We are not sure what exactly happened.” But it seems that the website has been tampered with. He said that this problem was seen on the official YouTube channel of the Supreme Court on Friday morning and the Supreme Court IT team has sought help from NIC (National Informatics Center) to fix it. These days hackers are targeting popular YouTube channels on a large scale. Ripple itself is suing YouTube for failing to stop hackers from creating a fake account of its CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
