One of the petitions was filed by Alakh Pandey, CEO of Physics Wala. The petition claimed that the NTA's decision to award grace marks was “arbitrary”. Pandey reportedly collected representations from around 20,000 students, which revealed that at least 1,500 students were awarded 70-80 marks as grace marks.
The second petition regarding the NEET UG exam was filed in the Supreme Court by SIO members Abdullah Mohammad Faiz and Dr Sheikh Roshan Mohideen. The petition filed sought withdrawal of the NEET-UG 2024 results and re-conduct of the exam. The petitioners have alleged arbitrariness in awarding grace marks. It said that 718 and 719 marks out of 720 (obtained by many students) were “statistically unbelievable”. Apart from this, it was also claimed that awarding grace marks by the NTA was a malpractice of giving “backdoor admission” to some students instead of compensating for the “loss of time”. The petitioners also suspected that 67 students of a particular center have scored 720 out of 720 marks. In the second petition filed, the petitioners have also sought a stay on the counseling conducted for NEET-UG 2024 admission till the investigation into the allegations of paper leak is completed.
