Supreme Court strictly forbids cancellation of NEET UG counseling, said- ….then everything will be cancelled

NEET UG Counselling 2024: The Supreme Court today again refused to stay the NEET UG 2024 counseling. The Supreme Court said that if the exam to be held on May 5 is canceled, then the entire process will be automatically canceled. The Supreme Court has also issued a notice to the NTA on other petitions and sought a reply. However, the counseling process is scheduled to start from July 6. While the Supreme Court has not yet given any decision regarding the cancellation of the exam.

Today, the Supreme Court also heard the petitions filed in the NEET-UG case. In which a request was made to stop the counseling process of NEET UG before the bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath. If the court orders the cancellation of the May 5 exam after hearing the case, then all further processes will be automatically cancelled. The remaining applications will be heard on July 8.

NEET UG counselling process will begin from July 6

The counselling process of NEET UG will start from July 6 as per the scheduled schedule, while several petitions filed regarding NEET paper leak, cancellation of exam, demand for CBI investigation and other irregularities are scheduled to be heard in the Supreme Court on July 8. On the other hand, NTA canceled the grace marks of 1563 candidates who appeared at 6 exam centers and gave them two options. These candidates can either appear again for the NEET exam (which will be held on June 23, 2024) or participate in the counselling process from July 6 with the score without grace marks. It is worth noting that the result of NEET UG re-test can be declared on June 30.

The Supreme Court has issued notice to NTA on several other petitions seeking cancellation of NEET exam, ban on counselling process and CBI probe into alleged malpractices in the exam.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had also issued notice on four petitions filed by NTA. In these petitions, there was a demand to transfer the hearing of NEET-UG cases pending in the High Courts of various states of the country to the Supreme Court. These petitions have been filed in Madhya Pradesh High Court, Delhi, Rajasthan, Allahabad High Court, Calcutta High Court and Jabalpur Bench of Chhattisgarh High Court. In these petitions, a case has been filed regarding many irregularities including paper leak in NEET exam.
