Students are very upset over the paper leak and other irregularities in the medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024. The matter was heard by a vacation bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah of the Supreme Court on Tuesday, during which the court issued notice to the central government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) seeking a response on the petition seeking permission to re-take the exam.
However, the court refused to stop the counseling of the passed candidates for admission to MBBS, BDS and other courses or cancel the exam. The court said that the sanctity of NEET-UG has been affected, so we want an answer. The Supreme Court also issued a notice to the Bihar government as there were allegations of malpractice in conducting the NEET exam in Bihar. The Supreme Court will hold regular hearing from July 8 after the summer vacation is over. Responding to the plea of the lawyer of the petitioner students to stop the counseling of the students, the court said that even if the counseling starts, we are not stopping the counseling and will not stop it. If you argue too much, we will reject this petition.

The NEET-UG exam was held on May 5 last and the result was declared on June 4. Applicants say that the question papers were leaked. Many students have already received the question papers and passed. 67 students have scored 720 out of 720 marks. A total of 23 lakh students appeared for the exam against one lakh available seats. Four people, including two MBBS students, have already been arrested for running a NEET exam paper solver gang at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan Mehta Vidyalaya in New Delhi. A petitioner told the Supreme Court that the paper was leaked in Patna and wrong question papers were given to candidates in Rajasthan. Applicants demand that the NEET-UG 2024 result be withdrawn and the exam be conducted afresh.
