Now lawyers and parties will also be able to get updates of their cases pending in the Supreme Court on WhatsApp. Announcing this on Thursday, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said that the Supreme Court will give information to lawyers about the cause list, filing of case and listing for hearing through WhatsApp messages.

The Chief Justice said that in its 75th year, the Supreme Court has started a new initiative by integrating WhatsApp messaging services with IT services to strengthen access to justice. He said that this will have a big impact and will help in saving paper and preserving the earth.

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud made this announcement on Thursday morning when a nine-judge Constitution bench was sitting to consider the interpretation of Article 39(B) of the Constitution.
