The Super-8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup will begin on Wednesday with a match between South Africa and USA at the famous Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Both the teams will face each other for the first time in T20.
USA lost its last match against India by seven wickets. Saurabh Netravalkar has become a key player for the USA. On the other hand, South Africa defeated Nepal by one run after winning the toss in its last match. Tabrez Shamsi performed brilliantly in this match. The match will start at 8 pm.
American batsmen will have to be wary of South Africa's left-arm fast bowler Marco Johnson. He can create problems with his deadly swing and bounce. He has taken three wickets in the last three matches at an average of 26.5 but he will be the mainstay of the African fast attack. Another young bowler Otniel Bartman has taken eight wickets in the last five matches at an average of 11.6. Bartman is adept at breaking partnerships and can keep the opposing team under constant pressure. Batsman Hendricks' form is worrying. He managed to score only 57 runs at a rate of 11.2 runs per match. Apart from David Miller and Quinton de Kock, captain Markram will also be desperate to play a big innings on important occasions.
The US team will be hoping for match-winning performances from captain Monk Patel, Andris Gus, Shedley van Schalke. Top order batsman Aaron Jones has scored 143 runs in the last five matches and will be the mainstay of the US batting lineup. Left-handed batsman Steven Taylor has scored just 67 runs in the last five matches but his match-winning ability cannot be denied. On the basis of experience, the South African team will be a strong contender for victory.
