Chennai, May 25 (HS). Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has become the fifth team to play the most finals in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Hyderabad achieved this feat by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 36 runs in IPL 2024 Qualifier 2.
The Hyderabad-based franchise entered the final of the tournament for the third time. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have also made it to the final of the tournament three times.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have played the IPL 2024 final a record 10 times. Mumbai Indians (MI) are in second place after appearing in six finals. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are in third place after playing four finals of the T20 tournament.
Talking about the match, after losing the toss and batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 175 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
The top scorer for the team was their wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 50 runs off 34 balls with the help of four sixes. Rahul Tripathi (37) and Travis Head (32) also scored crucial runs for their side.
For Rajasthan Royals, Boult and Avesh grabbed three wickets each in their four-over spells where they conceded 45 and 27 runs respectively. Sandeep picked up two wickets for 25 runs in his four overs.
In reply, Rajasthan's team could only score 139 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Dhruv Jewel scored 56 runs for Rajasthan by scoring a brilliant half-century, apart from him Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 42 runs. For Hyderabad, Shahbaz Ahmed took 3 wickets, Abhishek Sharma took 2 and Pat Cummins and T Natarajan took 1 wicket each.
