Sunita Williams trapped in space, Boeing Starliner will not return, know more

NASA's Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams and eight other crew members aboard the International Space Station are in trouble once again. NASA announced on Friday that the return of the Boeing Starliner carrying the first crew of astronauts has been postponed for the time being. NASA has also not given any new date for return.

Now many questions are being raised about the return of the astronauts. People want to know when the two astronauts will return from the mission. There has already been a delay due to testing and technical problems. Let us tell you that the return of the spacecraft was earlier scheduled for June 26.

When will the astronauts return?

US astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams flew on June 5. Since 2019, it has been sent into space twice without humans. Its thrusters have suffered five failures and five helium leaks. NASA and Boeing encountered malfunctions and had to do additional testing, raising questions about how long the Starliner would actually be able to bring its crew back. Apart from this, many problems have come to the fore with this spacecraft.

Starliner is facing many problems

In addition to the $4.5 billion NASA development contract for the project, the company has spent $1.5 billion on cost overruns. NASA wants the Starliner to become the second U.S. spacecraft to carry astronauts to the International Space Station, along with SpaceX's Crew Dragon. Boeing's Starliner program has been plagued by software flaws, design problems and disputes with subcontractors for years. On June 6, the Starliner experienced a thruster failure as it approached to dock with the space station. The spacecraft will not be able to get close to the space station until it is fixed.

This object found in the space station surprised the scientists

Earlier, information about superbugs inside the ISS had come to light. Scientists discovered a multi-drug resistant bacteria called Enterobacter bugandensis. It has been made more effective by developing it in the closed environment of the ISS. According to scientists, it is a multi-drug resistant bacteria, that is why it has been named superbug. These bacteria infect the respiratory system.

Sunita's record

Sunita Williams has spent a record 322 days in space. She first went to space on 9 December 2006 and remained there till 22 June 2007. After this, she went to space for the second time on 14 July 2012 and remained in space till 18 November 2012.
