Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghubir Singh has issued orders to former President of Shiromani Akali Dal and the then former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and former Union Minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa to wear the robes of Sevadar and stand guard in front of various Gurudwaras including Darbar Sahib.

Apart from this, Jathedar Shri Akal Takht Sahib has issued orders to the leaders who were in power in the Badal government to clean the public toilets built in Shri Darbar Sahib. This punishment of all Akali leaders will start from December 3. The special thing is that during this punishment, all the leaders including Sukhbir Singh Badal will serve wearing the convict’s placard around their neck. This type of punishment has been given after about 40 years in the history of Shri Takht Sahib. Apart from this, Jathedar Sab has sentenced all the Akali leaders to go to the langar hall of Shri Darbar Sahib and clean the utensils.

Apart from this, orders have also been issued for all the leaders to listen to Kirtan for one hour and recite Shri Sukhmani Saheb. Jathedar Shri Akal Takht Sahib clarified that all these Akali leaders will go to the five Takhts including Shri Fatehgarh Sahib and serve for two days and after that these leaders will go to their village or to any Gurughar in Halke and serve for one hour each. Jathedar Saheb made it clear that all these Akali leaders will serve by wearing the plaque of Sevadar around their neck.

Apart from this, Jathedar Shri Akal Tak Saheb has also formed a committee for membership in Akali Dal in which the current president of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Harjinder Singh Dhami, Iqbal Singh Jhuda, Gurupratap Singh Wadala, Manpreet Singh Eyali, Santa Singh Umedpuri and Shri. Bibi Satwant Kaur will participate on behalf of Akal Takht.

Jathedar Shri Akal Tak Saheb issued instructions to the Working Committee of Shiromani Akali Dal that all the reports regarding approval of the resignations of the leaders who have resigned from the party should be given to Shri Takht Saheb. Apart from this, instructions have been issued to all the leaders of the Akali Dal reform wave that instead of following different paths, they should work unitedly to strengthen the Shiromani Akali Dal.

The Jathedar clarified that the letter of the decision taken in front of the Sikh Sangat, on the basis of which Dera Mukhi Ram Rahim was pardoned, will also be made public. After which on July 24, Sukhbir Badal gave an explanation to Sri Akal Takht Sahib in a closed envelope. Demands began to arise to make Sukhbir Badal’s clarification public. After which Sukhbir Badal’s explanation was made public on August 5.

Sukhbir Badal was declared Tanakhiya from Sri Akal Takht Sahib on 30 August. While declaring Jathedar Raghbir Singh as retired, he had also ordered that until Sukhbir does not appear before Takht Singh Sahiban and apologize in writing, he will remain retired. During this period, he will not be able to participate in political, social, religious and other activities.

Sukhbir had submitted a written apology to Shri Akal Takht Sahib on August 31, 2024 and had said that he would accept every order of Singh Sahiban. He had appealed to Jathedar Raghbir Singh to take a decision regarding his punishment soon. After which a meeting of five Singh Sahibans was held at Akal Takht Sahib today. According to the orders of Akal Takht Sahib’s Jathedar Giani Raghveer Singh, 23 people who were ministers in the Shiromani Akali Dal government will have to appear at Akal Takht. Of these, former Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, Sewa Singh Senkhwa, Tota Singh, Ajit Singh Kohar, Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Captain Kanwaljit Singh have died. Sucha Singh Langah has been expelled from the Sikh sect.
